Alternatively, with the diplomatic approach, it can take much more time to build up an effective gang and be able to attack safehouses. The aggressive campaign is also the riskiest, because if a player's boss dies the game immediately ends. Playing aggressively means sacrificing any diplomatic bonuses, and players can also expect more requests for war. There are, of course, downsides to each playstyle and specific bosses that work better than others. This is by far the longest path to beating Empire of Sin. This method will also help keep the cops at a distance because players won't be committing as much crime when they play diplomatically. Melee weapons, as opposed to ranged weapons, are used for fighting in close proximity and do not require ammo. ![]() Players can trade businesses, offer tribute, or perform favors for other bosses to strengthen their relationships. To remain diplomatic and avoid confrontation, build businesses in abandoned buildings instead of taking over enemy rackets. Knocking out opponents is quite nice, but their damage simply seems low when compared to guns, especially since you need to get close to use them.There are three main methods of winning in Empire of Sin: playing the diplomat, focusing on businesses, or practicing active aggression. Then again, I don't see much benefit over pistols. Their accuracy is lower but they shoot more often, so I suppose damage is more evenly distributed - and for finishing off an enemy at low health, it's better to have 3 hits at 30% than one at 60%, for example. Specifically, I'm not sure whether they have AoE damage. I haven't used sub and regular machine guns enough to say much about those. Then again, you can always toss grenades at groups of mobs if you really need AoE damage. Wounded enemies don't seem to suffer any penalties (unless hit with explicit status effects), so I tend to take them out one by one. For high-level mobsters, I'm not sure whether it is better to single out targets or to tackle them all at once. Shotguns can damage multiple targets, which I suppose might be nice if you face a ton of low-level mobsters. Rifles and sniper rifles do (very) high damage and allow you to single out targets at long range. Pistols are versatile and can do high damage to one or two targets, and the +10 damage bullets apply to both shots. I like pistols and (sniper) rifles, but more out of style than out of strategy, to be honest with you. ![]()
